Dave Room is African American Latino man of mixed origin born in San Francisco, raised in Berkeley, and is currently living in Oakland. He is a co-creator of Pacha’s Pajamas, author of “Pacha’s Pajamas: A Story Written By Nature,” and CEO of EdTech firm BALANCE Edutainment and a Mixed Reality firm.

Dave would love to visit Vancouver, BC, Costa Rica, the U.K., Brasil, Holland, Paris, and Ethiopia again, as well Prague, Berlin, Bali, Barcelona, and a ton of other places.  Hint hint.

He connects with a number of communities: the Bay Area, people of color, AR/VR, improvisation, eco-justice, meditation, and planetary awakening.

Dave has a daily practice that includes from 60-120 minutes of mindfulness practices that he calls his Blissipline. This practice is grounded in the chakras and includes breathing, protection, grounding, prayer, mantras, dance, and more. A Dream Teacher of the Robert Moss School of Active Dreaming, he incubates, recalls, records and acts upon his dreams and messages from the universe (i.e., synchronicity).

He enjoys and is really good at getting things started and handing them off.  Dave co-founded Bay Localize, a public benefit organization that inspires and supports Bay Area residents in building resilient communities, and coordinated the Local Clean Energy Alliance. He was instrumental in the start up phase of Post Carbon Institute, playing a key role in donor cultivation, the End of Suburbia screening campaign, and engagement with local groups. He was also a frequent interviewer on Global Public Media.

Dave’s most important identifier is Melia’s Papa. His fourteen year old daughter is his inspiration and most of the time joy.

On stage, Melia’s Papa uses storytelling and solo performance theater (The Monkey Trap) to awaken and activate mainstream audiences, people of color, and youth. Dave is involved with efforts to use Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality for good. He has B.S in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University. Follow Dave on Twitter. Check out the Melia’s Papa origin story.
